WHITSTABLE PRODUCE STORE IS OPEN!

It’s been a truly hectic few months in our Whitstable world. Since we took over the lease of 33 Harbour Street last autumn, we’ve refurbished this lovely Grade 2 listed Georgian/Victorian building and converted it into a bigger version of our original juice bar at 63 Harbour Street. Along the way, we found a Victorian fire-place, some wonderful Georgian and Victorian floorboards and beautiful brickwork – and removed 1.5kg of carpet tacks.

PICS DEC 2013 003We opened the Whitstable Produce Store on Small Business Saturday (7 December) with a “soft launch” for Whitstable’s late-night shopping the previous Thursday and we’ve been fabulously and at times breathtakingly busy ever since.

Our former juice bar fits neatly into one corner (!) and we have space to sell a much larger range of Kentish products and produce. We have fresh fruit and veg which we use in our juices and to supply our customers’ produce needs. And we’ve extended our range of Kentish products to include sixteen suppliers to date – including several members of Produced in Kent – from our oldest friends Little Stour Orchard to the most recent including Kent Chilli Farm, Quex Foods, R and R Ales and Biddenden Vineyards.

We have indoor and outdoor seating and we’re really looking forward to seeing people enjoying a glass of wine while they watch the sun go down.

As we head into 2014, we’ll be adding to our range of Kentish suppliers and discussing new ways to work in our extended space. And we’ll be making the most of our continued membership of Produced in Kent – more important than ever now!
