Food Assurance & Quality Controller Required for a BRC certified company

Full-time BRC experienced Quality Assurance Controller required to control, manage, record and oversee daily requirements. Part of the responsibility includes regular updates of policies as required as well as staff training for a busy BRC accredited manufacturing site in Selling, near Faversham, Kent.

The pace can be demanding from daily demands across the departments. Attention to detail is a must. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, and also be able to work with a hands-on approach with flexibility.

We manufacture a range of sauces, relishes, marinades, curry pastes and more from Asian inspired recipes to Traditional European recipes.

Please note NUT ALLERGEN Warning – Applicant will be working in a factory environment that uses nuts in production amongst other allergens.

Duties & Responsibilities

A summary of this role includes:

  • Low risk manufacturing technical elements
  • Food Safety – BRC 7
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of BRC v7
  • Maintains quality assurance operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Extra knowledge in allergens, labelling, internal auditing – weekly checks
  • Ability to create own scopes
  • Working knowledge of traceability
  • Customer’s specific re defined and extended as well as a shorten version
  • HACCP qualification – ability to prove training certification – good working knowledge. Level 2 min.
  • Pragmatic in delivery across Technical requirement
  • Working knowledge of microbiology and organeolyptic test and analysis
  • Documents finished product status by recording and summarising raw materials and finished product inspection and physical test data; updating quality assurance database.
  • Sampling regimes, environment and product micro
  • Read and decipher product specifications
  • Risk assessment – to record, track and overview of raw materials Identifies finished product condition by collecting, classifying, analysing, and interpreting quality data; judging product acceptability in comparison to specifications; conducting inspections and physical tests of materials.
  • Working with suppliers and customers
  • Working knowledge in Health and Safety
  • Audit presentation
  • Software knowledge. Secures database by backing up data.
  • Practical experience in hyperlinking documents
  • QC and QA management skills – convert written to practical assessments.
  • Training new staff, updating new techniques and refreshers
  • Working Knowledge of Pest control
  • Threat analysis critical control point
  • Environmental environment and swabbing,
  • Interpreting analytical results
  • Product analysis and microbiological understanding
  • Working knowledge and practicality to risk asses
  • Practical exposure in processing / manufacturing kitchen
  • Prepares technical reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • The successful candidate must have a food technology / science qualification. Good communication skills.
  • Clinical Lab Testing, Data Processing, Technical Understanding, Equipment Maintenance, Food Research, Process Improvement, Attention to Detail, Reporting Skills, Product Development, Quality Focus.
  • Experience with BRC audits
  • Worked in this role for at least 2 years
  • Good computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and is numerate.
  • Please indicate training programmes involved and certifications achieved.
  • A good and fluent command of English is required, both spoken and written.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK

Wages negotiable.

This role is available immediately.

Full Time: Monday to Friday  

Working Hours: 8.00am to 6pm

 No weekend and public holiday working days. On-site training provided.

Wages to be discussed depending on experience.
