Solley’s Kentish Ice Cream is throwing open the doors to the family farm in Ripple and inviting customers to visit its newest venture: The Calf Shed Farm Shop.
The Calf Shed is designed to showcase the best produce Kent has to offer – including a wide range of Solley’s award-winning dairy ice cream. Customers can purchase a host of frozen and fresh produce sourced from local suppliers, including Home Cooked by Hannah, Field Fare, Lower Hardres Butchers, Corinne’s Kitchen and Biddenden Apple Juice. There is also fresh bread, fruit and vegetables, locally-produced jams and chutneys, freshly roasted coffee and eggs from the farm’s own hens.
Those enjoying farm’s picturesque, Camping & Caravanning Club-accredited campsite can also make use of Campers’ Corner – a section of the shop containing all the essentials for camping, such as teabags, firelighters and matches.
The Calf Shed is located in a converted outbuilding on the family farm in Ripple, near Deal. All the interior fittings have been made by hand, using reclaimed wood. Ice cream fans can also take a peek through the windows of the ice cream factory and see first-hand how Solley’s ice cream is made.
Keith Morrison, general manager of Solley’s, said: “The Calf Shed has been a real labour of love. Here at Solley’s, we care deeply about provenance and quality, and this new project will not only show off lots of delicious produce from across the county, but will also encourage more visitors to our beautiful corner of Kent.”
The Calf Shed is open seven days a week; 9am-4pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-2pm Sunday. Solley’s Farm is located on Church Lane, Ripple, near Deal; parking is available onsite.
Solley’s is the largest independent ice cream producer in Kent, and the only producer to carry the Red Tractor logo, confirming its farm assured credentials. More than 85 per cent of base products are sourced from within the county and all milk and cream comes from a herd of ChannelIsland cows on a neighbouring farm just a mile down the road.
Solley’s Kentish Ice Cream supplies a host of businesses including farm shops and delis, theatres, restaurants, kiosks, top Kent attractions, independent supermarkets and international airlines.
