Slow Summer Snail Farm is on the move!

grn_grnWe’ve left our lovely spot at Brogdale where we’ve been for the last three years thanks to Grow the specialist plant centre. Littlebourne Allotments have kindly allowed us to re-locate into the centre of the village. I must say it is very convenient for me as I live within easy walking distance and I’m sure the snails won’t mind at all. It will be interesting to see if the predators are the same.  Brogdale is a bit of a nature reserve full of creatures looking for something tasty to eat, so I’m just hoping the resident Littlebourne foxes will have eaten everything else furry that might be looking for an escargot lunch. However, there are dozens of chickens around in the day time, pecking at everything that moves, so I have to find a way to keep them out. It’s a very friendly place with everyone helping each other so I’m sure we will soon feel at home.

To celebrate the move we’ve got ourselves a smart new website: www.hrh-escargots.co.uk allotment escargotwhere chefs can register for wholesale orders. But www.snaifarm.org.uk still appeals to all sorts of other customers from snail smallholders, to reptile owners and film companies. The next one-day courses for would be snail farmers are on 11 April and 23 May and the breeders are warming up for the Spring egg-lay, so get your applications in!
