Macknade Fine Foods To Launch Butchery

The Team - 8x5Macknade Fine Foods is due to launch a long anticipated butchery department to complement its existing food hall, delicatessen and café.

The Macknade butchery will provide customers with a traditional butcher experience, demonstrating great skills and service, as well as excellent quality meat with local provenance. Whilst Macknade has sold ready cut & wrapped fresh meat for a number of years, the new butchery will have a much wider range and the ability for customers to watch the butcher at work.

Over the next couple of weeks visitors to Macknade Fine Foods will be able to see the progress as new fridges and equipment are installed in the shop.

Alongside the new butchery, Macknade are also installing a bank of four energy efficient self-serve fridges to replace the old. These fridges have been chosen for their secondary ability to reuse their emissions for either heating or air conditioning, depending on the season. In turn, this will create a more comfortable and energy efficient building for customers and staff alike.

Finnian Dunlop, General Manager at Macknade Fine Foods, commented, “One of our principle goals is to fulfil the weekly food shopping needs of our customers, and until now we have not been to meet their need for fresh meat, cut and served from our own counters. For many years, our loyal customers have asked us for this addition to our service and it is a natural progression for us to introduce it. As with all our produce, we will aim to provide great quality and variety at good value.”

He added, “Naturally, having been named Local Food Retailer of the Year at the Taste of Kent Awards for the past two years running, and stocking over 120 different Kentish suppliers alone, we will be looking to maintain the pattern of buying great produce direct from local suppliers and farmers where possible.”

Macknade is now inviting applications from experienced master butchers and apprentices alike wishing to join the team. Applicants for these roles should apply through the Macknade Fine Foods website: www.macknade.com/about/jobs.

Opening of the butchery is targeted for September 2015. In the meantime, if you would like any further information, please contact Macknade Fine Foods on 01795 534497 or email enquiries@macknade.com.
