Liberty Wines has been appointed UK agent for Kent-based Hush Heath Estate, taking over the distribution of the estate’s still wines, the newly released Balfour Leslie’s Reserve NV, and Jake’s Kentish Cider from 1 November, followed by Balfour Brut Rosé and the Balfour 1503 range from 6 January 2016.
Hush Heath Estate still and traditional method sparkling wines are made from 100% estate grown fruit, sourced from 15 hectares of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vines surrounding Staplehurst in Kent. Richard Balfour-Lynn planted his first vineyard in 2002, harvested his first crop in 2004 and released his first wine, Balfour Brut Rosé, in 2007, which went on to scoop England’s first gold medal at the 2008 International Wine Challenge. A state-of-the-art winery, laboratory and bottling line was built on site in 2010 to enable Hush Heath to have greater quality control, and be more self-sufficient, flexible and experimental as an estate.
David Gleave MW of Liberty Wines said:
“Southern England is emerging as an increasingly reliable source of exciting, top quality sparkling and still wines as plantings mature and producers achieve higher quality year on year. With this is mind, we are delighted that the addition of Kent-based Hush Heath Estate strengthens our English wine offering and complements our existing portfolio, both in terms of price point and geographical location.”
