We love this time of year! It’s the one time of year we get to brew with fresh, “green” hops. This produces ales with the vibrancy of the newly harvested hops giving a zesty, herby flavour that gets somewhat lost when using dried hops.
This year’s fantastic hop harvest has allowed us to brew 3 delicious green hop ales this year:
- Green and Pale – a session pale making the most of the Early Bird hops
- Green & Gold – A stronger intensely hoppy ale using beautiful East Kent Goldings
- Green & Black – a green hop take on our award-winning Merchant’s Ale. A green hop mild, Kentish stout.
Working with a local farmer meant that we got the hops from picking into the ale in just forty minutes this year. All the ales were featured at the Canterbury Food Festival as well as in pubs all over Kent during Green Hop fortnight starting Friday 22nd September.
