This Friday, 16th June is National Fudge Day and the seven Fudge Kitchen shops are using the opportunity to unleash their loosely veiled competitiveness (as loosely veiled as Dastardly & Muttley’s), racing against each other to produce the most fudge in one day; while raising money for their 2017 chosen charity, The Lily Foundation, which supports research into and families affected by Mitochondrial Disease.

In what promises to be The Wacky Races of the fudge world …
• Seven artisan teams in Bath, Cambridge, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Oxford, Windsor and York will compete to hand make the most “baguettes” of fudge between 10 am and 5pm on June 16th.
• Quality, as ever, is paramount, with each baguette having to be judged sellable and photographed next to a copy of the day’s newspaper in anticipation of foul play, in a skilled process, detailed in he press release, which usually takes 45 minutes. An average day will see 4 or 5 made by each shop, Fighting talk suggests that a total of 15 is being aimed for on National Fudge Day!
• Watch out for much social sharing of twitter and Facebook (both @facebook) updates across the shops, and hastags: #NationalFudgeDay #GivingAFudgeAboutLily #TheLilyFoundation, plus plenteous riotous You Tube footage.
• Each completed baguette will earn a £10 donation to The Lily Foundation, with further fund raising, including a £1 donation from every 6 slice box of fudge sold, continuing throughout the day.
