One of the UK’s most popular beer brands, Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale, is making an exciting new addition to its range this autumn – Spitfire Gold.
Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale was first brewed 25 years ago to honour the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. As 2015 marks 75years since the historic air campaign, brewer Shepherd Neame has decided to commemorate the occasion by launching Spitfire Gold, which will be a permanent addition to the range.
Spitfire Gold (4.1% abv) is a well-balanced, light golden ale. Its sweet malt base is built upon with delicate floral and pine aromas imparted by some of the most popular hops of the moment, including Centennial and Saaz.
Stand-out on the bar is assured thanks to a contemporary, polished gold pump clip featuring the distinctive Spitfire profile in relief.
Spitfire brand manager William Upfield said: “We feel that Spitfire Gold is a fitting way to honour those heroes who fought bravely in the Battle of Britain and celebrate the Spitfire plane itself, a Great British icon. It also helps raise awareness of our mammoth year-long fundraising campaign for the RAF Benevolent Fund during 2015 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.”
Spitfire Gold will be available in cask nationwide from September 2015. A sneak preview of the beer is currently available from Shepherd Neame’s bar at this year’s Great British Beer Festival (GBBF), taking place until August 15 at Olympia London, where Spitfire Gold is the main programme sponsor.
