As the days get shorter, and nights get darker, it is the perfect time to enjoy one of Shepherd Neame’s limited edition autumnal beers.
Late Red Autumn Splendour Ale (4.5% abv) is a crimson copper-coloured brew, forging the perfect balance between rich, dark malt flavours and a citrussy hop finish.
It blends pale ale malt and gently-kilned crystal malt with UK Cascade and Goldings hops. To enhance its taste and aroma, the brew is triple-hopped, with a late copper addition of Goldings and Cascade.
Late Red will be available on draught until November, and is also available in 500ml bottle.
Don’t miss the chance to taste this year’s batch of Shepherd Neame’s Green Hop Ale (4.2% abv), brewed every year for the Kent Green Hop Beer Fortnight at the end of September.
Instead of the usual dried hops, the beer uses fresh, or green Kentish hops within 12 hours of being picked. It showcases the full array of flavours and aromas usually lost in the drying process.
Green Hop Ale is among the limited edition, innovative brews on offer from No.18 Yard Brewhouse, a collection of beers originally developed in Shepherd Neame’s pilot brewery. It will be available on draught around Kent until mid-October.
Also on offer from No.18 Yard Brewhouse this autumn is Spooks Ale. A blood-spattered label claims the beer, appropriately a dark ruby colour, is The Official Ghost Brew of All Hallows.
It boasts a biscuity palate created by a devilishly delicious trio of Pale, Crystal, Brown and Chocolate malts, with bitterness provided by Target hops and a citrus aroma from Styrian Goldings.
Spooks Ale will be available on draught (4.7% abv), and is also available in 500ml bottles.
And don’t miss Shepherd Neame’s dark, creamy Double Stout. The glossy black beer features a unique blend of four coloured malts, balanced by Admiral and Target hops, creating a velvety smooth palate of dry, burnt flavours, complemented by cocoa and coffee notes.
Double Stout, part of Shepherd Neame’s Classic Collection, is available on draught (4.0% abv) until November. It is also available in a 500ml bottle (5.2% abv).
