Coffee Ice Cream Wins Highest Accolade at Great Taste Awards
Great Taste, the world’s most coveted blind-tasted food awards, which celebrates the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2016, and Simply’s Coffee Ice Cream is amongst the top 1.4% who were awarded the highest accolade of 3 stars. 10,000 products were judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists. The awards are recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, as Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging.
In order to be awarded 3 stars the vast majority of experts in the room, as many as 40, must agree that the food or drink delivers that indescribable ‘wow’ factor. Comments from the judges about the Coffee Ice Cream include, “Creamy and milky with a superb roast coffee flavour, not too sweet, rich, and true to a cup of cappuccino” and “Absolutely superb ice cream, a joy to eat and incredibly satisfying”.
Simply has won over 30 Great Taste stars previously, with their Heavenly Honeycomb also reaching the coveted 3 stars in 2011. “This is an incredible achievement”, explains founder and director, Sally Newall, “The Great Taste logo adds credibility to our brand, and we are hugely proud that we can add three more stars to one of our flavours, which marks it out as exceptional”.
As well as this incredible achievement, this last month has also brought news that the Simply Ice Cream’s Peanut Brittle Ice Cream has been shortlisted as one of three finalists in The Grocer’s New Product Awards, and the company has also been shortlisted in the Food and Drink Federation’s Regional Growth category.
