Chetna to Showcase Recipes with Supper Club at Macknade

Chetna Makan to Showcase New Cookbook Recipes with Street Food Supper Club at Macknade

On 3rd June, Chetna Makan will be returning to Macknade for her third supper club, showcasing Indian street food from her upcoming cookbook.

Following the success of debut book, ‘The Cardamom Trail’, published in 2016, Chetna Makan will be returning to the food scene with her new recipe book, ‘Chai, Chaat & Chutney’, coming out on 6th July this year. This book is the result of Chetna’s travels to the four corners of India and showcases her take on the regional street food on offer.

The evening will consist of a five-course, street food feast, with dishes taken directly from ‘Chai, Chaat & Chutney’, including papdi chaat, a dish of savoury crackers with potato & tamarind chutney. There will also be a traditional Indian welcome drink called Nimbu Pani, a refreshing, lightly spiced beverage sold on the streets of Mumbai. For dessert, Chetna will showcase her baking skills with an Indian take on a British classic, mango & praline profiteroles.

After the life-changing experience of reaching the GBBO semi-finals in 2014, Chetna Makan has flourished in the food and drink industry. In 2016, Chetna returned to our televisions as she was crowned winner of the GBBO Christmas special, the last ever episode to be broadcast on the BBC.

The dinner is one of many events at Macknade, including a Kentish hogget tasting in association with Pasture for Life which took place on May 6th. Our butchery was recently Pasture for Life certified and the event highlighted the importance of raising livestock on pasture throughout the year. We will also be hosting a range of tastings, offers and wine flights for English Wine Week, commencing the 27th May.

Regarding the supper club, Rosie Collins, Marketing Manager at Macknade, commented, “Our staff love working with Chetna and we can’t wait to welcome her back to our café for another supper club! We’re really excited to be able to offer such an authentic Indian street food feast to our guests and, judging by our previous dinners, we know it’s going to be delicious! We look forward to the release of the new book, and having it in store soon.”

Tickets for the event are priced at £37.50. To book your ticket, please visit the Macknade website at http://macknade.com/community/whats-on/events/street-food-feast-chetna-makan/
