Bessie settles down in Broadstairs

Karen in shopIn August 2012, I started a little vintage caravan business ‘Bessie the Caravan’, popping up to serve tea and homemade cakes all over the UK for events, weddings and private parties. I was delighted to be a finalist at a The British Street Food Awards in 2013 and my adventures took me far and wide, meeting some of the most inspirational and creative people. So frequently asked if I had a permanent base for people to visit, I decided it was time to open a Tea Parlour.

Bessie’s Tea Parlour opened in August 2014, providing a little touch of nostalgia in the lovely seaside town of Broadstairs. Homemade food made with local produce or food seasonally foraged from our own small holding is served daily on pretty vintage china. The Parlour has already become a community hub, regularly hosting events such as The Broadstairs Bake Off, Stitch n Bitch and Foraging Forays. Thank you to all the Produced in Kent members who have supplied me with such wonderful produce and given The Parlour an excellent start.
