Whitstable Larder was delighted to receive a Taste of Kent Award 2015 in the Prepared Food Class for their Classic Titan Sausage Roll. The judges commented that ‘this product was the perfect example of a classic, a joy to eat and really delicious; well branded & locally sourced.” This is the first product that Whitstable Larder has entered into any competition. Whitstable Larder felt that the award was recognition of the thought and hard work put into creating a quality premium product made from locally sourced ingredients. The sausage rolls are made from local pork from ‘Monkshill Farm’ in Waterham, which has been raised using traditional husbandry and sustainable farming practices. Whitstable Larder then add a mix of their own special ingredients to the pork. The sausage rolls are assembled by hand in a kitchen at The University of Kent. They are wrapped in hand made all butter puff pastry made to their own specification in Whitstable by local baker ‘Slow Bread’ using organic flour and butter. You can find Whitstable Larder at The Goods Shed in Canterbury daily as well as local farmers markets in Whitstable and Faversham.
