A celebration of self-sufficiency and smallholding in Sevenoaks will cast chickens firmly in the spotlight in 2019. The event will be held on Sunday 16th June in the grounds of Great Comp Garden in Platt and will feature the poultry food, hatching eggs and bird sellers.
Francine Raymond, Telegraph columnist, and author of 15 books on hen-keeping, will be giving a talk and selling her book ‘My Tiny Home Farm’ at the event.
A resident of Whitstable, Francine has a passion for everything horticultural and is keen to ask visitors if they’ve thought about keeping hens in their gardens, no matter the size of their plot.
Francine says: “Hens fit really well into a garden. Managed well, a small flock of hens can give you eggs for the kitchen, manure for the garden and hours of amusement but beware, keeping hens can turn into an addictive passion!”
Usual admission fees apply: £8.50/£7.50 Adult/Concession, £3 Children (6-17). Free for Great Comp Garden annual pass holders. 20% day entry discount for RHS members (individual, member 1 for joint membership and both for life members).
