Macknade Fine Foods has been named Kent Local Retailer of the Year at the Taste of Kent Awards on 9th March 2017.

This most recent win sits alongside several other awards including 4 previous Taste of Kent awards in 2009, 2010, 2014 & 2015, and Food & Drink Retailer of the Year from Kent Life’s Food & Drink Awards, won in 2013 and 2016. As well as this, Macknade has been regularly shortlisted for Shop of the Year at the Great Taste Awards, the largest food and drink competition in the world, making it to the final three in both 2015 and 2016.

Many of Macknade Fine Food’s suppliers also made the finals at this year’s Taste of Kent Awards, with several going on to win. These include Kentish Pip who won Kent Cider or Perry of the Year with their Skylark cider, Romney Marsh who scooped Kent Beer of the Year with Romney Amber Ale and Biddenden Vineyard who secured Kent Juice Producer of the Year.

Among the finalists were Boutilliers, creators of seasonal beer, brewed on-site at Macknade, who were shortlisted for Kent Beer of the Year for their Smoked Oatmeal Stout. MightyFineThings, another Faversham producer stocked by Macknade, also made the finals in the Kent Food Producer of the Year category.

Due to its prestigious title as a multi award-winning independent food and drink retailer, Macknade Fine Foods has also had the opportunity to judge awards, including the Great Taste Awards and the World Cheese Awards.

On winning the award, Rosie Collins, Marketing Manager at Macknade Fine Foods, commented, “We are thrilled to have been named the Taste of Kent Retailer of the Year for 2017. It is wonderful event celebrating all that is great about Kentish food & drink and is also a fantastic opportunity for us to get the team together and celebrate all the hard work they put in – day in, day out! It was wonderful to see several Faversham businesses nominated, including Boutilliers, who brew their beers in the Hop Shed at Macknade – an incredible achievement after only one year on the Kentish beer scene!”
