Bennett Opie Limited have extended their corporate social responsibility to support local, national and international charities.
The Kent-based family food firm value the importance of reducing waste and over the past three years have been selling large disused vinegar drums. Local people have been snapping them up as they make the perfect water butt for the garden or allotment! Over four thousand have been sold raising over £3000. Monies raised are being donated to Demelza, which provides care and support for seriously ill babes, children, young people and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South East London.
It’s not just vinegar drums as Bennett Opie have recently teamed up with Fareshare to also donate stock which is then distributed to charities and community groups who transform it into nutritious meals for vulnerable people.
It’s important for Bennett Opie to support local charities, however over the years the business has also assisted international charity projects by working with the Fields of Life charity and fund-raising to install a third well in the East African country of Uganda.
William Opie, Managing Director at Bennett Opie Limited said “We really value the importance of charitable contributions and as a private family business we have the flexibility to support a number of charities and have the ability to support on a local, national and international basis. As a business, we need to build a sustainable future, and one which creates an enjoyable environment for our workforce, and supporting such a cross-section of charities creates a real sense of positivity and optimism for the business.”
