NFUM_PrimaryXSelllogo_CMYKNFU Mutual Ashford and Tenterden, a voice in the South East of a leading insurer known for its expertise in managing the risks of every part of the food chain, is demonstrating its commitment to the region’s food businesses with sponsorship of the drinks reception at the 2017 Taste of Kent Awards.

“We believe that the Taste of Kent awards are a great chance to recognise the very best of the region’s fantastic food and drink sector, but also a great chance to network,” says Phil Cornish, Senior Partner in NFU Mutual Ashford and Tenterden.  “Sponsoring the drinks reception is our way of helping that process along. We want to bring everyone together to share ideas and help build on the great progress Kent has made in becoming a great place to buy food and a great place to eat.”

Kent’s burgeoning food culture was cited as one reason why the county was chosen recently as one of the coolest places on earth to visit. Travel Publisher Travel DK picked Kent for its where to go guide for 2017, highlighting the food and drink on offer.

Stephanie Durling of Produced in Kent, which organises the awards, is looking forward to bringing the best of Kent food and drink businesses together.  “For the outstanding businesses that win an award, it is an acknowledgement of their status as one of the top food and drink businesses in the county, and a stamp of approval from consumers in Kent,” she says. “The Taste of Kent Awards are the outstanding accolade to Kent’s producers and have been running for thirteen years.  You still have until 3 January to vote online for your favourite food business at tasteofkentawards.co.uk.”  After the initial public vote, three finalists in each category will go forward to be judged by mystery shoppers, mystery diners or an expert judging panel.

The awards presentation dinner will take place on Thursday 9th March 2017 at the Kent Event Centre at the Kent Showground.

“Kent has so much for the foodie,” says Phil Cornish. “At the same time, its food sector makes a great contribution to the local economy. We’re very proud to be supporting the Taste of Kent Awards and some of the county’s most impressive businesses.”
