Speciality Breads’ Kentish Huffkins Booked into the New Waterstones Café
Red Tractor-certified artisan bakers Speciality Breads is celebrating after its Kentish Huffkins rolled out in the new impressive café in Waterstones in Maidstone.
The new café is situated in Waterstones, Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, and launched with a day of coffee, books and family entertainment on Saturday 8th October where customers could sample the locally-sourced menu, enjoy a hot drink and talk to booksellers and baristas.
With the café championing local produce, Margate-based Speciality Breads’ extra special Kentish Huffkins will take pride of place alongside the cafes’ Soup of the Day.
Other regional delights on show include apple juice from Lamberhurst-based Owlet Fruit Juice Ltd and a range of Kent Crisps from Ramsgate.
Bookshop Manager Rachel Johns said:
“With such a strong sense of community here in Maidstone and some excellent artisan producers in the county, we are confident a menu with fair trade, organic, locally-sourced food at its heart will be warmly welcomed. It’s a joy to be able to champion local independent businesses in this way and we are really looking forward to celebrating the café and the menu with our loyal customers.”
Speciality Breads’ Managing Director Simon Cannell said:
“It’s a real honour to have our Huffkins in a prestigious retailer like Waterstones. Their dedication to using locally-sourced food and supporting artisan producers is a massive credit to them and we’re over the moon to be part of this new exciting café menu. Our Kentish Huffkins are great tasting, versatile and a little piece of this county’s incredible history so we’re confident they will be a big hit with customers.”
