Scholarship Scheme from Kent County Agricultural Society

Scholarship Scheme

The Kent County Agricultural Society has set up a scholarship scheme to help fund up to nine students through their degree courses for each year of their studies.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply, students need to be:

  • A resident of Kent at the time they apply for the scholarship. Any applications made by students who are already studying outside of the county will not be considered.
  • Aged 18 to 25 when they commence study on the course.
  • Studying for a full-time college or university degree based course. Applications will be considered in any field studied in the following areas: Agriculture – arable and livestock, Horticulture, Forestry, Equine, Veterinary and Animal Management, Environment and Conservation
  • Courses must be studied in the UK. Applications for international colleges/ universities will not be considered.

How much would be allocated?

All students would be allocated up to £1000 per year for up to three years of their course.

How many students would be eligible for funding?

The Kent County Agricultural Society is looking to fund three new students each year, totalling nine students over a three year period.

What can students use the scholarship for?

Students can use the scholarship for any reasonable costs connected with going to college / university, including tuition fees, accommodation costs, living expenses, or equipment to help them study.

Are scholarships paid directly to applicants?

Yes – the grant money will be paid into your bank account at the beginning of September (or the start date of your course) each year you are in full time education (for a maximum of three years).

How long does the scholarship last?

Students can apply for a scholarship for each year of your degree course, or for the remaining years if you first apply part-way through your course (and are living in Kent). Unfortunately, we can’t offer study grants for previous years of study that have already been completed.

Do students need to re-apply each year?

In general, we expect to continue awarding students a scholarship for as long as their degree continues, provided that:

  • They continue to study full-time, at the same university.
  • The college / university confirm that their academic performance is satisfactory.

What would the Society expect in return?

Successful applicants should expect to have direct involvement with the Society and would be expected to visit the Showground at least once during their course. Involvement could include: Presentations at Society Council Meetings, Social media – through Facebook / Twitter posts, blogging etc., Helping to man the education displays at the Kent County Show, PR to promote the SocietyProfile on the Societies website.

How do potential students make an application?
