Spring Lambs and Piglets
Tractor Rides and Easter Crafts
The annual Easter event at Brogdale Farm, Faversham will take place on the 25, 26 and 27 March.
The 2016 Easter celebrations will feature baby owls this year alongside the ever popular lambs, chicks, rabbits and piglets. Each year the range of animals gets bigger and to add falconry to the event is going to be a great addition.
As well as bringing very cute, fluffy baby owls into the world, perfectly timed for Easter, the falconry team will offer daily flying displays to show off the incredible skills the birds of prey possess. Gemma Raines, from Joes Bows Country Sports comments: “we thoroughly enjoy spring shows. It’s a real pleasure to get the birds into action and introduce the new birds for the season”.
The Kent Poultry Club will be constructing their impressive display of poultry showing off chickens, ducks and geese. The club will have ample member’s on-hand to talk to the public about keeping poultry at home. Incubated chicks will be hatching over the Easter period and a member’s egg show will present a spectrum of different coloured, sized and shaped eggs.
The spring, bottle fed lambs are always a treat and visitors can learn all about their journey and why orphan lambs are so common. Children will also get the opportunity to volunteer to feed the lambs which is always a popular endeavour.
The tractor trailer will take the children up into the orchards for an egg hunt trailing through the budding trees. Found among the trees will be the Easter Bunny to help children complete the hunt and get a chocolate prize. Children can also enjoy Easter crafts, a guess the poo competition and the outdoor playpark.
Kimberly Campion, Development Officer comments “spring is a fantastic time to visit Brogdale as the farm is a hive of activity. The trees start to bloom at the end of March and show a succession of colour though April and into May. It is a real pleasure to have the animals here over the Easter event and a great opportunity to showcase both horticulture and agriculture. We encourage the whole family to visit as this event is great for all ages”.
The National Fruit Collection preserves a collective range of both fruiting and ornamental apples, pears, plums, apricots and cherries. The vast variation in different flowers offers an exceptional and unique show of blossom.
Brogdale marketplace of shops will be open throughout the event and the café/restaurant will be serving hot and cold lunches. Tickets for the Easter Event cost £8.00 per adult, £4.00 per child and can be purchased through the websitewww.brogdalecollections.co.uk.
