One dairy farm in the Weald has managed to buck the trend in the decline of milk sales by providing doorstep deliveries of home produced dairy products. Third generation farmers at Hinxden Farm WG and TA Manford have also taken 6 awards at the recent International Cheese Awards. Representatives from 31 countries brought 4,459 samples of their cheese and dairy products to Nantwich Cheshire. Hinxden Farm took Gold, Silver, Bronze and Highly Commended awards for their skimmed, whole milk, single and double cream.
Hinxden, in Benenden is farmed by sibling partners Graham, Richard and Sally Manford. They have 220 pedigree milking cows including Holstein and Guernsey. Their doorstep rounds across Kent and East Sussex include wholesale supplies to Kent’s Finest Restaurants and their Gold Top Milk is a favourite for Baristas all over the South East.
Recent involvement with Farm Drop (an online Farmers Market based in Bermondsey) has increased sales still further.
Hinxden is a member of Produced in Kent but you can find more information on Hinxden’s website www.hinxdenfarmdairy.co.uk. Hinxden are working towards producing their own hard and soft cheeses; so who knows what might happen next year?!
