Following hot on the heels of the Olympic and Paralympic games, the British Cheese Awards were handing out more medals this weekend. Winterdale Cheesemakers won a Silver medal for their Winterdale Shaw , matured chedder style cheese and a Bronze for the Smoked Winterdale.
The awards come at the start of British Cheese Week – an opportunity to celebrate the strength and diversity amongst British Cheesemakers.
Over 900 cheeses from 187 cheesemakers where judged over the weekend before a gala dinner at City Hall, Cardiff
The Winterdale cheese dairy is housed in a traditional oak framed barn located at the head of a picturesque valley on the North edge of the family farm, which old local maps identify as ‘Winterdale Shaw’. With the cheese matured in natural chalk cellars below the barn, it truly makes the most of the North Downs landscape near Wrotham
