Balfour 1503 Classic Cuvée has won a gold medal at the recent Decanter Awards.
Available through Majestic, this award winning wine is one of a new range of 1503 sparkling wines produced on the Hush Heath Estate in Staplehurst, Kent.
Wine Producer Richard Balfour-Lynn said: We only launched the Balfour 1503 Classic Cuvée in November 2014 and we are delighted that it has already won gold.”
Decanter describe the wine, which blends Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier as Broad, powerful, toasty and ripe autolytic fruit with notes of baked apples and light camomile hints. There’s a marshmallow lightness to the palate, with gentle pastry notes, excellent, elegant balance and serious length.
Hush Heath’s wines are already enjoyed by first class passengers with British Airways and also by travellers on the Belmond British Pullman and by Britannia Club members on board Saga Cruise liners.
Visitors to The Hush Heath Estate in Staplehurst, Kent can enjoy free tastings and self-guided walks and, thanks to its recent acquisition and refurbishment of the nearby Goudhurst Inn, visits to the vineyard can be combined with a stay at the pub, restaurant and boutique hotel which is just 5 miles from the estate. Hush Heath is open seven days a week from 11am to 5pm, including bank holidays.
Alternatively, groups can choose to book a guided tour with tutored tasting led by Hush Heath’s winery experts. This experience is a great day out in the beautiful Kent country with time spent exploring the 400 acre vineyard before discovering the secrets of creating wines of a world beating quality in the state-of-the-art winery. To conclude there is a tutored tasting of the estate’s delicious sparkling and still wines and exciting range of ciders made by the estate’s winemakers. Tours are for a minimum of 6 people and the cost is £15 per person with the option to also order a delicious ‘picnic box’ for two at £25.
