Brogdale offer Spring Foraging Walks

Foraging Flourishes at Brogdale

Wild Food, Fresh and Free

DSCN4592Brogdale are offering Spring Foraging Walks around the wild and wonderful Faversham landscape.  Following the successful spring forage last year Brogdale are once again heading into the countryside to share the hidden secrets of the land.

Kent offers a high variety of plants and fungi from hedgerows and fields to the delights hidden on the coasts which are just waiting to be found. Whilst the offering of free food is of abundance and all around us, there is a certain degree of knowledge required to forage safety and also to ensure the landscape is not overharvested of some of our more rare plants.

For those who are interested in adding something a little different to their culinary pursuits, a Foraging Walk may just be the answer.

Bernie Cranfield, Events and Marketing Manager for Brogdale Collections comments; “our foraging walks really are like delving into the unknown as it opens a world of new tastes and textures to your meals. The wild food available to us all offers fantastic adventures in the countryside and then in the kitchen. We hope to encourage more interest in wild food and in turn a new appreciation for our versatile and fruitful landscape”.

The professional foraging walks are arranged by the Brogdale Collections charity team who also offer other one day horticultural courses such as pruning, grafting and orchard design. The purpose of the Charity is to allow the public to visit the National Fruit Collection in Faversham and learn about the vast and interesting varieties of fruit. Being the world’s largest collection of fruit, rare and unique plants are not unfamiliar to Brogdale.

Land based Foraging Walks have been arranged for the 9th and 23rd April 2015 and places can be booked through the website www.brogdalecollections.co.uk or by calling Brogdale Collections on 01795 536250.
