KENTISH VINEYARD LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVE VINEYARD EXPERIENCE DAYS

KENTISH VINEYARD LAUNCHES EXCLUSIVE VINEYARD EXPERIENCE DAYS IN COLLABORATION WITH AWARD-WINNING LOCAL PUB

The Milk House The StreetKENT VINEYARD has announced the launch of several new ‘wine and vine’ experience days in collaboration with award-winning Sissinghurst pub THE MILK HOUSE.
The vineyard’s CHEERY DAYS events – scheduled to commence on 23 MAY 2015 to coincide with ENGLISH WINE WEEK – will be available on exclusive days each season, offering visitors the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get involved with English wine production.

During each event, visitors can learn how to care for vines and make wine, through immersive experiences covering everything from grape growing, harvesting and wine making to, of course, wine tasting.

In May – the season of BUDS, SHOOTS AND FLOWERS – visitors can discover how the vineyard plans for a fruit set and ensures the grapes grow. Over the rest of the year, experiences cover everything from canopy care and pruning through to picking, crushing and pressing.

An enjoyable morning at the vineyard is followed by a two-course lunch at THE MILK HOUSE pub in Sissinghurst accompanied by a glass of KENT VINEYARD’s RAMPANT HORSE wine.

The pub – which won a NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR award in 2014 and has just been nominated for KENT DINING PUB OF THE YEAR – prides itself on its food, working with the seasons and using only the freshest produce from local suppliers.
From the bar, visitors can enjoy cask ales from Kentish breweries and a wide selection of wines that include offerings from the area’s renowned vineyards.

KENT VINEYARD’s first wine, named RAMPANT HORSE after the white horse of Kent, is available with local exclusivity at THE MILK HOUSE, both by the glass and the bottle.
For those who want to spend a little more time in the village, The Milk House also has four beautifully-appointed bedrooms.

Richard Jebb, KENT VINEYARD Director and Winemaker says: “THE MILK HOUSE can be commended for supporting the opportunity we have created for people to experience vineyard life firsthand; to learn, live, share and enjoy the seasons in an English vineyard. When you’re considering the health of your harvest it gives you a new level of perception of the weather and the seasons. It’s perfect for people with a passion for wine, seasonal food and a love for the rural life. We’re confident our guests will enjoy raising grapes to make wine as much as we do!”

Dane Allchorne, THE MILK HOUSE Owner and Head Chef says: “We’re excited to be working with KENT VINEYARD to create experiences that celebrate the fantastic English wine on our doorstep and offer visitors the chance to learn more. We’ve always been passionate about supporting local suppliers and we are fortunate to be surrounded by such a strong food and drink network.”
