Stephen Leadbitter founded the Stephens cooked meat business in South London in 1974. He teamed up with Bill Lawson a year later and the firm, now based at Lordswood Industrial Estate, Chatham, has established a reputation for high quality cooked meats. Over the past 40 years, the business has achieved steady growth and is now a multi-million pound turnover business serving catering companies and retailers. Its products are served in restuarants, hotels, on British Airways flights, cross-Channel ferries and cruise ships, as well as to athletes in the Olympic Village in 2012.
