Meeting the people behind the labels

Press release from Holwood Farm, Downe

Holwood Farm Festival of Food 5 Oct 2014, Christy Hamilton aged 6 from Keston enjoys a drink from Farnbourgh-based Drink Me ChaiAward-winning condiments, artisan pasta and Kentish cheeses were on offer to visitors at Holwood Farm’s Festival of Food on Sunday 5 October.  Visitors flocked to the farm to tuck into tastings and chat to producers, while wine expert James Craig-Wood was invited to unveil the new own-label Holwood Farm wines.

Six-year-old Christy Hamilton from Keston was there with mum Amanda, who runs successful business Drink Me Chai, based in Farnborough. The drink is based on a blend of black tea and ground spices and Christy was keen to help herself to a refreshing cup.

Those who attended took advantage of warm sunshine to enjoy a barbecue laid on by the farm and queues soon formed for locally produced sausages, lamb and turkey.

“It’s been a great day,” said farm owner Gary Mercer. “Everyone’s had a good time and the feedback on the Holwood Farm wines has been great.  The whole team’s worked really hard to pull off a successful event and it’s been well worth the effort.”
