Cheesemakers of Canterbury’s Chaucer’s camembert has been named one of the top 50 food and drink products of the year in Britain by the Guild of Fine Food.
The Guild’s Great Taste Awards are open to producers of deli- quality food and drink from across the globe being sold in the UK.
Cheesemakers’ Chaucer’s Camembert, which has been a hit in Belgium for three years, was given its top score of three stars this year. It then went on to be rated one of the top 50 products entered this year,
The judges said, “We were blown away by this fab cheese. Richly creamy, well-balanced, and can we have some more, please!”
“Rich, creamy, beautifully flavoured cheese – really luxurious and a flavour that lingers on and on. Applause all round.”
Cheesemakers’ semi-hard goat’s cheese, Gruff, won two stars at the same awards, and their Ashmore farmhouse cheddar-style one star.

The Ashmore farmhouse has also been named runner-up for Best Cheddar in Great British Food Magazine’s first ever farm Produce Awards.
Owner Jane Bowyer said, “Coming on top of all our achievements at the last Taste of Kent Awards, and Selfridge’s taking our Kelly’s Canterbury Goat, this is another accolade for all our staff who work so hard to make the cheeses so good.”
